AthleticBaby “Soccer!” DVD
My 3 boys love sports and being active, and I think that our 2 year old, Chip, is possibly going to be the most fanatical about all things ball-related. So I was really excited to get a chance to preview the new AthleticBaby “Soccer!” DVD.
This DVD is meant to encourage a love of the sport as well as an interest in physical activity. It is not a primer on soccer rules and regulations. They do a great job of introducing basic concepts like only the goalie can use their hands, but they never get bogged-down by the minutia.
Using cute, catchy, original music, they show kids from crawlers to highschoolers, and boys and girls all playing soccer in their own ways. Far and away the most popular section for my kids, however, is the one where a small dog in a uniform plays with a bunch of soccer balls and kids. They can’t get enough of that part and they laugh and laugh!
Another favorite is a song by Eddie Coker called “Please” — well he’s changed this popular song to “No hands, please” and it is a great introduction to the rules while also being very funny.
This lighthearted DVD is marked as being for ages 3 months and up, and I would agree with that rating. If you choose to let your infants watch television, they will enjoy all the closeups of kid’s faces, and there is a lot of activity for them to track on the screen.
But as kids get closer to 2 years old, that is where this show shines. My 4- and almost 5-year-olds enjoy it as well. Here is Mike’s pithy review: “We love the songs of it!!” said as he’s dancing around in front of the TV.
“Soccer!” will be available soon at Amazon, and until then, you can check out the current AthleticBaby sports titles available.
My kids loved this DVD. Have you seen it? How do your kids like it? Let me know!
