When LeapFrog sent me the TAG I was skeptical, because it seemed kind of hokey to me. A magic pen? Yeah right. That sounds awesome. But you know what? Everyone is wrong sometimes, and for me this is one of those times. My kids love the LeapFrog TAG. It appears to be a replacement for what I think was the original product Leap Frog Made: the LeapPad. But this is so much cooler. There are no cords or cables, there’s no button you have to push when you turn a page, and the book itself looks just like a regular book so you can easily keep it on a bookshelf.

It’s all quite magical, actually. You don’t have to tell the pen which book you want to use. Instead, just point the pen at the book and it figures it all out. You can skip around the pages with abandon, you can point the pen at random spots and quite frequently something funny will happen.

This kind of serendipity and lack of a single-path is really what is keeping my kids interested, and along the way they’re learning about reading and letters. The TAG is just another in a series of LeapFrog products which convince me that they really do care about helping and educating kids. I love it.
